It just wasnt meant to be the team played well enough and kept trying but we just were not able to stop Barns speedy forward line . Every time we took the game to them we got caught at the back by their pace the boys kept on trying and eventually lost 5-2 with goals from Ryan and Jonny.( a vast improvement on the early season results between the teams) At least we were in the semi final and you got to be in it to win it .Thanks to all the boys who gave their best today and with another Final to come against Whitehead we can all be optimistic.

SATURDAYS GAME A MUST WIN

A fourth successive win over Carnmoney on Saturday will guarantee a ROSE BOWL FINAL and a medal for the under 13 squad.Without striker Chris M and Josh the rest of the boys must pull together and secure victory. COME ON BOYS WE CAN DO IT .Then next week 18th March we are off to RATHCOOL to do BATTLE with BARN in the under 13 KNOCK OUT CUP SEMI FINAL.

UNDER THIRTEENS FLOP

The under 13 squad finished its league season against COMBER at Inverarry . The team was mainly fringe players and subs to give them their chance to impress. Matty played well in goal but the defence of Andrew B George B James McC and Scott T failed to impress and were beaten five times in the first half midfield regulars Ryan Josh and Jamie C with Tom McK and forwards Thomas T and Jamie O struggled in the first half. After the break nine of the regular first team took to the field George in goal a back three of Andrew G Chris D and Josh with a midfield of Ryan Matty James Sam and Jamie C with forwrds Mark McC and Jonny K did a bit better with Mark scoring a consolation goal in this 8-1 defeat . Chris M and Niall C willl return next week to strengthen the squad against Carnmoney in the Rose Bowl .Good to see Jamie O and James back after long injury lay offs.

UNDER THIRTEENS THRASH CARNMONEY

After a silly early goal was conceded the team started to play with a defence of George in goal back three of Niall C. Chris D. and Andrew G closing down and shutting out everything Carnmoney had to offer the midfield of Ryan H., Sam W., Josh S.,(Capt) Nathan S.,and Jamie C. started to control the game giving great service to forwards Mark McC and Johnny K..The final score 0f 7-1 (and two goals dissallowed) flattered Carnmoney with the number of chances we created in this great display. (Goalscorers Ryan 2, Mark McC 2, Johnny 1 ,Josh 1,Matty 1,)
Matthew N replaced Jamie at half time and Tom McK and Andrew B who replaced Nathan and Sam during the second half all contributed to this win WELL DONE BOYS

UEFA B or now known as UKCC Level II ( first time course has been run i'm a guinea pig)
Wow what a day yesterday I can hardly move I'm knackered.
I learnt so much on day 1 ( and I got to coach a group of adults)
I have new warm up techniqes which you will enjoy on Wednesday
I learnt new dribbling techniques and coaching/teaching methods
I learnt new ways to teach the 6 basic turns inside hook , outside hook ,stop turn ,drag back ,stepover turn and a turn that I always struggled to teach the Cruyff turn no probs now even I can do it. so different to mini soccer and JTM techniques.
I also watched and then taught methods of short and long passing including ways to improve basic faults in passing and the different techniques to teach inside foot outside foot and passing long with laces only etc
and loads of new challenging games that include these new techniques which (if im able to walk again ) ill show on Wednesday.

some of these techniqes of teaching would be great for the young kids as well so I would love to show these to the under 11s and soccerkids sometime (as i need to do 90 hours of coaching to complete the course as well as pass two exams and 3 assessments on the course.)

WEEK 2
Just as strenious spent early morning in lecture about needs of players and requirements for licence i.e. first aid child protection photo id card and how it would be issued . Moved on to receiving ball facing and then with back to opponent controliing ball with feet chest and thigh.
Afternoon session was on attack and defence in small areas 1v1 2v1 3v1 3v2 and 3v3 attacking and defending .Very tiring and then received topic for first assessment next week

WEEK 3
Assessment went quite well told I had good coaching manner , good coaching plan and good communication with children (coached N.I. under 13 girls squad) a few other negatives to be improved on I am a bit down hearted as I put so much work in but now I know where I have to improve in the next two assessments .Also had lecture on laws of the game but had already passed this as part of my referees licence.Next week goalkeeper coaching for starters

WEEK 4
Sorry due to my car crash yesterdaty I was unable to attend but will be back next week.

WEEK 5
YES I passed my second assessment with flying colours on 3v2 with recovering defender based largely on what we did in training on Wednesday night. I coached the under 15 NI girls squad and it went really well .Half day as my assessment was one of the first in the morning. Next week will be methods for coaching girls and the start of 4 V 4 which will be my final assessment in three weeks time.

Templepatrick Thirteens Thrill

What a victory for the rapidly improving under 13 squad following a win against Carnmoney 13-3 ( 5 goals for Jonny K and 4 for Marky) and a great performance against top team Larne Youth scoring five goals the team beat Whitehead Eagles 8-1 in the Quarter final of the EAIYL cup with a Chris M hat-trick 2 from Marky Mc one from Sam W from 30 yards one from Jonny K and at last a first goal for Jamie (I've hit the post again)C. All this without captain Josh (on loan to under 14s ) and Ryan (giggs) H. out sick Bring on Barn United in the semi-final my old Club also past Barn players include keeper George and new hat-trick hero Chris M.
